Family, Friends, Places
I'm very lucky to have been raised the way i was. Both of my parents were always there for me and did so many awesome things for me. I got to travel alot and see the world as a kid, something that i took for granted until recently. There is nothing more awesome than experiencing things, even bad experiences end up being awesome to remember. Sometimes i just sit and stare blankly and think about where i am, what i did to get there and what is going on, just fully absorb myself in a moment. It's crazy to think all of the places i've been, all the people i've been able to meet because of it. I been 50 ft under the ocean in hawaii with my best friend, i jumped off the most southern part of the US with my best friends, I've chased black kids that stole my phone in louisville for almost 10 blocks with my best friend, I've been to ireland with my family, I got on my hands and knees on a glacier in Alaska and drank the blue water, I stood next to a dead whale on a beach in hawaii, i've hiked through rainforests, skated through cities, traveled through canada with my best friends... I could list things forever. I wish i could convince everyboy to listen to the part of there brain that says " i want to take a trip, i wish i could do this..." because that is when you truely learn things that you can never learn in a classroom. at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you're in a bed or on a dusty floor, if you're wallet is full of money or if you don't even have a wallet, if you're friends are on drugs or if they're not, all that matters is what happened during the day, is it something you're going to care to remember?

the never ending
Slowly as i start to see life more clearly, i am realizing that the things that are a pain in the ass never stop coming. From one thing to another to another to another. You might as well spend your whole life hop scotching because as much as you want to get to the end there is always another square to hop in. Let me think of some recent examples. The starter goes in our van, we replace the starter, van runs fine and then the power steering goes. Now it is sitting in the backyard not starting and not having a power steering pump. Meanwhile the insurance bills still come along with the excise tax that i haven't paid. Stupid bro party at the house on friday, the house is trashed on saturday and it finally gets cleaned and only then does any of us notice that the thermostat is broken. The house is cold as balls. Today me and bruce finally fixed the thermostat everything is seeming awesome: the house is warming up, im drawing with crayons, thinking abou eating soon. Next thing i know there is a half inch of fucking water in the basement. I feel like this constantly but this is just a small window of example. FUCK. keep it coming god, i'll trudge through your shit storms until the day i shrivle up and die.

Melting
Somedays i feel like i wake up and see can only see through foggy eyes. Or maybe its the reality that i am seeing that i usually don't that makes it seem this way. Today i hate everything about the world. I hate school because i feel like it's completely pointless. I don't learn anything and i am more motivated on all of my own personal endeavours. Every person i see walking by me i am disgusted with. All these people are trapped in the same motions that i am trapped in but don't even realize that it is slowly eating them alive. I want to hit the floor, shut my eyes and wake up when the sun is out. Wake up when i am back in the van with my friends driving around playing music. I want to pick apart my brain so i can find the part that got me into this mess of college and destroy it. There is more to everything than we all see. And days like today i see it and it scares me.
Today i woke up feeling like i was being dragged behind a car, like i keep trying to get on my feet but i am moving too fast to stand up.

The new Matt and Kim album blows
Today i was realizing how poorly i react to criticism. Not that i show any sort of emotion but just that makes my brain turn the same corner a million times. It is something i guess i have never handled well. I think everyone wants to be good at what they do. I can't figure out if i love to do the things i'm good at or if i'm good at te things i love to do. Either way wold be something.

Vas Deferens
Over the summer i met a band called Sirs. I had heard of this band before but never thought to much of it, even gave it a listen on myspace i think. It seemed to me there was a bunch of bands coming out of Suny Purchase that barely veered off of Algernon Cadwallader's sound. I was wrong about Sirs. This album if full of life and energy that is much different than Algernon. Sometimes it will play through 3 times in my car before i even realize it's time to change the cd. The way justin screams brings me back to so many bands i used to love and the parts he sings are equally as good. They stick quick transitions and parts that you don't expect or understand. There is even parts that speed up and slow down which i love because of my hate for metronomes. Now, onto Hibernations Sometimes. This song is a little different than the rest of the songs on the album. When i first saw sirs and they put the mic in front of dave benton I did not expect the voice i was about to hear. The only problem i have with this album is the recording of the begining of this song. Something that you won't be able to understand until you see them play live, which probly won't happen because dave has recently left the band to focus on his other project, Spook Houses.I had a little trouble writing about this album due to my lack of good way to explain things but seriously if you don't have vas deferens, get it and hear the madness.

Religion
I was raised loosely to be catholic, forced to sit through church and all that shit. Before i mindlessly made my confirmation i realized that i didn't believe any of that bullshit and opted out of it. Since then i have watched how stupid religions control people and take over their lives so much that don't experience what is actually like to be free and live. Jahovas Witnesses are the worst. They can't fucking do anything not even watch rated R movies and they don't even celebrate birthdays.
Point is i was 100% anti religion. But i was put into an Eastern religions class which made me realize that i actually hate western religion...becase eastern religion is the shit. Followings like buddhism and hinduism are awesome. From what i can catch by the little attention i pay, they are not a list of rules like catholocism, but a spiritual path. To truely learn about life you need to actually experience and learn. this being said nothing is prohibited but instead encouraed because everything you do ( even mistakes) is a lesson. as long as you learn from it. and this is the ultimate path to "enlightenment". Instead of saying be like us they are saying be yourself and learn everything you can about life in your own way.
it's funny how ignorant i will probly never realize i am and this is a perfect example of something i would have been against my whole life if i never stopped and took the time to understand.

4 loco is gay
I just read a post that was written about Chalk Talk in regards to the way they talk about women in their music. The first sentence talks about how he feels terrible when bands like chalk talk are compared to his band (snowing) because they have "fucking lame lyrics" and "call people fags". Well personally i would never compare Chalk Talk to Snowing because they are nothing alike, the main difference being Chalk Talk actually writes good music. the next part talks about knowing right from wrong. Obviously someone who seriously degrades women and calls someone a faggot is wrong. But jokingly doing it is not wrong, it is just that... a fucking joke. Being too serious may not be wrong but it is dumb. get over yourself.
The next part talks about the song Misquamicut. Ask anyone who has ever heard Chalk Talk if they love that song and every person will tell you yes. I have never been to a show where that song has been played and not seen everyone screaming at the top of their lungs and smiling uncontrollably.
The line "statutory rape you'll never forget" refers to a kid from our highschool who was actually charged with statutory rape. Its a social commentary, its not degrading at all.
The only issue here is with the author of this post. You say you're "punk" becuase you didn't fit in with "bros" and you found people who you felt comfortable being yourself around? Well you're doing the same thing by talking shit about other peoples music. Chalk Talk is not a hateful band at all and if you think that, you need to listen closer. Chalk Talk songs are literally all about the times you spend hanging out and doing stupid fun things with your friends, its not meant to imbed ideas of hating women into people.
If you don't like it, then don't listen to it. Chalk Talk doesn't need your blessing to continue writing music and if you were to "black list" them, it wouldn't matter becuase people love this band and people will continue to love this band.
